Courtney Love Downplays Hole Reunion Talk, Vows To Join Foe Dave Grohl Onstage At Nirvana’s Rock Hall Induction
A few months ago, Courtney Love gave Hole fans something to be excited about when she confirmed in a Facebook Q&A that she was “slowly, steadily” reuniting with the band’s Celebrity Skin-era lineup of Eric Erlandson, Patty Schemel, and Melissa Auf Der Maur. Then in an interview earlier this month, Love mentioned that the quartet had been rehearsing new material. Now it looks like we shouldn’t hold our breath. “We may have made out but there is no talk of marriage,” she tells the Telegraph. “It’s very frail, nothing might happen, and now the band are all flipping out with me [for implying they were reuniting].” Still, new music from Love seems imminent. She’s been teasing two solo tunes, “Wedding Day” and “California,” since last summer and has said the first line of the latter song — “All the lawyers are disbarred, and they’ve just declined your black card” — is her favorite lyric she’s ever written. “Wedding Day” is expected to be released soon in support of her UK tour next month.
But before that, Miss World will be back in the spotlight when Nirvana are inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame this week. Love tells the Telegraph that she and 21-year-old Frances Bean will be onstage at Brooklyn’s Barcalys Center with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic to accept the honor: “I wasn’t in Nirvana, but it’s what widows and kids do. And it does give me ownership of the mythology, rather than just handing over to Krist and Dave their ownership.” This will be the first time ever that Love, Grohl, and Novoselic will share a stage as far as I know. Love recently told BBC that she hasn’t even seen Grohl or Novoselic in 20 years. Kurt Cobain’s widow and former bandmates presumably still hate each other. Things got particularly dark a couple of years ago when Love accused Grohl of trying to seduce Frances Bean.
So don’t expect this crew to toast each other on Thursday night. But each did acknowledge the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death on Twitter yesterday:
This is the day of the year I dread…. God bless rest in peace my love

Dear Kurt, It's been 20 years since you left and I think about you every day. –– Love, Krist

(That’s a YouTube link to the Beatles’ “In My Life,” which was played at Cobain’s funeral.)
Erlandson paid tribute as well by reading a poem he recently wrote to the Nirvana frontman at an Echo Park bookstore on Friday:
Novoselic has hinted that he’ll perform Nirvana music at the Rock Hall induction. You gotta assume Grohl will too. (Early Nirvana drummer Chad Channing will be there as well, but not as an inductee). As for who will sing with Novoselic and Grohl: Paul McCartney and Michael Stipe (who is inducting Nirvana) are the least offensive candidates, though just barely. Springsteen’s been successfully doing a bunch of unlikely covers lately, so that could work? I guess my money’s on Gene Simmons.
