Landlady – “Dying Day”
The last single we heard by Landlady was “The Globe,” a sprawling trip of a song and the longest track on their upcoming album Upright Behavior. Their newest one, “Dying Day” is the shortest, but includes the same spontaneity and charm. Despite the title, it’s surprisingly uplifting in the way frontman Adam Schatz explores the idea that nothing can control the inevitable day of death, so you should just keep improving and getting better until it hits. The fact that the band wraps those lyrics in bouncy, whirling chamber pop only makes that message go down sweeter. Listen to it below and check them out on tour this summer, including a stint opening for Man Man.
