Happyness – “Leave The Party” (Stereogum Premiere)
The promising South London trio Happyness proved at least two things with recent single “Great Minds Think Alike, All Brains Taste The Same“: (1) They’re exceptionally adept at easygoing, melodic, post-Pavement indie rock and (2) they’ve got a wickedly morbid sense of humor. Both of those traits are reiterated on “Leave The Party,” the band’s next single from full-length debut Weird Little Birthday. The song is about going to a party and shooting everyone, but by the time the ultra-smooth and satisfying outro arrives you might mistake it for some lovelorn ballad by Yo La Tengo or the Clientele. Listening below is highly recommended.
