Made In America Los Angeles Lineup 2014
We learned the lineup for the Philadelphia edition of Jay Z’s Made In America Festival — including headliners Kanye West and Kings Of Leon plus the National, Pharrell, Girl Talk, Spoon, Chromeo, J. Cole, Grimes, De La Soul, Danny Brown, YG, Holy Ghost!, and Young & Sick — earlier this afternoon. Now the first LA edition of Made In America, which will happen simultaneously with the Philly fest on 8/30-31, has announced its lineup too.
In terms of headliners, it’s pretty blah — Imagine Dragons and John Mayer? But there are some exciting names in there, including a humongous contingent of hip-hop hometown heroes: Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, Cypress Hill, Nipsey Hussle, YG, and DJ Mustard plus Chicago-to-LA import Chance The Rapper. Besides the whole Black Hippy crew, the lineup features two more affiliates of LA’s dominant TDE Records in New Jersey’s SZA and Tennessee’s Isaiah Rashad, and there’s Hit-Boy, who hails from nearby Fontana. Aside from that very strong rap and R&B contingent, the best stuff on the bill is probably Weezer, Dr. Dog, and Metric, so take that for what it’s worth. Lots of big EDM names too, plus some wild cards like Juanes, Mute Math, and Rita Ora. Here’s the full lineup:
