AMEX Unstaged Books Pharrell At The Apollo, Directed By Spike Lee
Pharrell Williams hasn’t been performing live as a solo artist for very long, but he’s on an incredible hot streak right now, and, as Billboard reports, he’s about to become the latest artist to participate in American Express’s Unstaged concert series. Those shows pair up artists with big-name directors for live webcasts, and in Pharrell’s case, the director is Spike Lee. Lee will direct the livecast of Pharrell’s 6/3 show at New York’s Apollo Theater, which will stream live at 9 eastern. That makes Lee the first person to direct two of those webcasts; he previously helmed a 2010 webcast from the Roots and John Legend. Given what happened at Pharrell’s Coachella sets, we should probably expect guests at this one. Watch a promo below.
