Adult Jazz – “Hum”
Adult Jazz, from Leeds, make sprawlingly ambitious indie rock that plays around with harmony and song structure in ways that recall sleekly virtuosic experimenters like Grizzly Bear and Dirty Projectors. Their debut album Gist Is will be arriving presently, and we’ve already posted their songs “Am Gone,” “Springful,” and “Spook.” The album opens with “Hum,” a seven-and-a-half-minute zone-out that features heavy keyboard bleats, tricky drum patterns, and flighty falsetto vocals. It’s streaming at NPR; check it out here.
Gist Is is out 8/4 on Spare Thought.
