Lil Silva – “Mabel”
London’s Lil Silva started out as a grime producer before moving on to work with singers like Sampha and BANKS, helping them craft a thoughtful and soulful new strain of bass-pop. Silva’s got his own new solo EP called Mabel coming out later this summer, and BANKS shows up on two of its five tracks. The big news around the EP, though, is that Silva also picks up the mic himself, and his voice is a quietly expressive tenor, a nice complement to the intricately designed tracks he produces. The EP’s title track is a deeply pleasant piece of music with some nice work from Silva both on the boards and on the microphone. Listen to it below.
The Mabel EP is out 8/4 on Good Years/True Panther.
