Shut Up, Dude: This Week’s Best And Worst Comments
ICYMI, this week we ranked the 50 Best Albums Of 2014 So Far. It’s a difficult exercise, and Lazaretto fans will insist we did it wrong, but hopefully it turned you on to some albums you may have overlooked. I can’t wait for December when Mark Kozelek and Taylor Swift battle for AOTY supremacy. As always, you had a lot to say about our countdown. Check out the best and worst of those comments, along with thoughts on Song Of The Summer 2014 candidates, below.

THIS WEEK’S 5 LOWEST RATED COMMENTS
#5 | Faith Louise Martin | Jun 13th | Score:-12 | |
Her whole existance as “Lana Del Ray” is just a character she’s playing until people get bored of that too and she takes up another. Even if “Brooklyn Baby” is part satire, it’s not every good satire. |

NOTHING. Seriously. Not a single contender has made any sort of waves yet, and it’s already mid-June. In fact the only song that’s been popular all YEAR(in an all-consuming zeitgeist sort of way) up to this point is Pharrell’s “Happy”- a song from LAST summer. It’s been trending this way for a while, with fewer and fewer big hits each year. I’m actually in the middle of writing a ~like totally scholarly~ article about why I think music itself, as a commodity, is dying. There aren’t superstars anymore, much less indie/alt/rock stars. There aren’t any hotly anticipated records in the public eye for the rest of 2014. It’s barren and it’s scary. 🙁 tl;dr- Subjectively speaking, Sia’s Chandelier is the best of the pop offerings, and I am really really loving New Pornographers’ Brill Bruisers. |
