Watch Sylvan Esso Play The Tonight Show With ?uestlove
A little while ago, Amealia Meath, of the Vermont folk harmonizers Mountain Man, and Nick Sanborn, of the rootsy North Carolina psychedelic rockers Megafaun, teamed up to form the duo Sylvan Esso, and their self-titled debut together is an absolutely winning collection of glimmering, low-key synthpop. Their music is somehow, at the same time, smooth and ramshackle, and the same could be said of the way they looked making their network TV debut on The Tonight Show last night. Performing the album standout “Coffee,” with Jimmy Fallon’s bandleader ?uestlove sitting in on drums, they came off endearingly gawky but also self-assured, and they sounded great. Watch the performance below.
