DZ Deathrays – “Less Out Of Sync” (Stereogum Premiere)
Brisbane rock duo DZ Deathrays are preparing to release sophomore LP Black Rat, and new single “Less Out Of Sync” definitely finds them locked in. There are flashes of some of the world’s last remaining riff-rock powerhouses in this music — in particular Foo Fighters, Queens Of The Stone Age, and the resurgent Death From Above 1979. Yet there’s also a raucous retro garage energy in keeping with their early output. Few bands pull off this kind of music convincingly or uniquely anymore. Listen below, and catch up on previous single “Gina Works At Hearts” while you’re at it because that song is an absolute blast too.
Black Rat is out 8/18 on Infectious.
