Part Time – “My Jamey” (Stereogum Premiere)
Part Time started out as a very literal name: The bizarro lite-pop project was Davida Loca’s side gig in the late ’90s and much of the 2000s while he was doing stints with Austin bands Toko Ri Get High and The Dazzling King Solomon Band and Oakland’s the Time Flys. Eventually, though, Part Time became more of a full-time thing for Loca. The retro-kitschy “My Jamey,” to be released this month as a 7-inch single, is a Casio-powered ditty that will appeal to fans of everything from new wave to vaporwave. Hear it below.
