Watch Arcade Fire Cover Beverly Hills Cop Theme “Axel F” In L.A.
As the Reflektor Tour continues to snake around North America, Arcade Fire have been paying tribute to bands from the cities in which they’re playing. At the Forum in L.A. on Friday night (following the Unicorns reunion!) they took on Jane’s Addiction and Guns N’ Roses. Last night’s second show at the venue saw a more unlikely cover: German composer Harold Faltermeyer’s “Axel F,” the indelible instrumental theme to 1984’s Beverly Hills Cop. Said Win Butler, hitting a cowbell, “This song is called ‘F Axl’ — it’s actually written about Axl Rose, people don’t realize that.'” That led into “Normal Person” and then the “Welcome To The Jungle” intro. Watch below.
Beverly Hills Cop 4, starring Eddie Murphy and directed by Brett Ratner, hits theaters 3/25/16. Really.
