Ty Segall – “Manipulator” Interactive Video
A couple of weeks ago, Ty Segall released Manipulator, a ridiculously enjoyable glam-garage double album and probably the best of the many, many LPs he’s cranked out. The new video for the album’s falsetto-wailing title track throws Segall into a series of cut-and-paste landscapes, full of images of cultural ephemera. (The aliens from Invasion Of The Saucer Men make multiple appearances.) Segall’s college friend Matt Yoka directed the video, and there’s an interactive version of it that lets you play around with all the different elements that come into the frame. You can check out that interactive version here, or just watch the regular “director’s playthrough” YouTube version below.
