Julian Casablancas + The Voidz – “Where No Eagles Fly”
Last week, we heard the first single off Julian Casablancas + The Voidz’ upcoming LP, Tyranny. That track, “Human Sadness,” was 11 minutes of impressionistic, melodic drift. Today, BBC Radio 6 premiered another new Tyranny song, “Where No Eagles Fly,” which feels quite a bit more tightly structured than “Human Sadness,” but is still a good deal noisier than what we’re used to from the Strokes or anything off Casablancas’ first solo LP, Phrazes For The Young.
As Consequence Of Sound points out, the song was featured on Stuart Maconie’s radio show (guest-hosted by Stuart Keaveny) and it’s archived now. Go to bbc.co.uk and scroll up to 45:30 to listen.
You can also watch the band perform the tune (FKA “Dr. Acula”) at Governors Ball below.
