True story: Just last week I was diagnosed with GERD, AKA acid reflux disease. Too much coffee, I’m guessing. Anyway, Michgan shoegazers Pity Sex have a song called “Acid Reflex” (not sure if that’s an error or a play on words) on their new split with Adventures, and it’s far sweeter than that nasty taste in the back of your throat when chemicals are bubbling up. The song continues this band’s consistent output of high-quality, densely layered guitar-pop theatrics. “I need drugs, I need God, I need comfort, I need fortune, I need something,” they sing. So the music is much more upbeat than the sentiment. Listen below.
