Ghostbusters Theme Gets 30th Anniversary Marshmallow-Scented Vinyl Reissue
Ghostbusters celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and Legacy Recordings has decided to commemorate the occasion by putting out the Ghostbusters Stay Puft Super Deluxe Edition. It’s a 12-inch that contains the theme song by Ray Parker Jr. and Run-D.M.C.’s version that was made for the sequel. (Fun side note: Lindsey Buckingham was originally approached to record the theme but turned it down, and Huey Lewis filed a lawsuit against Parker because of the song’s similarities with “I Want A New Drug,” which was later settled out of court.) All of the artwork for the release is based around the iconic Stay Puft Man who invades New York during the climax of the film. That theme even extends to include a marshmallow-scented jacket and a “puffy gatefold jacket which simulates the feel and texture of a marshmallow.” Ghostbusters has been in the news a lot this year, between Harold Ramis’ passing in February and the recent rumors of a reboot with an all-female cast. Check out some more details about the reissue below.
