Blue Hawaii – “Get Happy” / “Get Happier”
Blue Hawaii — the synth-pop side project of Braid’s Raphaelle Standell and Alex “Agor” Cowan — have released a new one-off track called “Get Happy,” which is accompanied by an edit of the song called “Get Happier” that’s sped up. “‘Get Happy’ is a song we recorded one day in January 2014 but laid to rest as we got lost in the commotion of touring and moving to separate cities,” the band said in a statement. “As the year progressed, we found our live show intensify but still had all these softer recordings which would never be released. Hence we present ‘Get Happy’ / ‘Get Happier’, where we explore both sides: the original demo and a fun, double-time edit made one day in August.” The A-side is in the same wispy, melancholic territory that they explored on last year’s great full-length Untogether, while “Get Happier” wouldn’t sound out of place in a smoky dance club.
