Dirty Beaches Break Up
When a band is really just one guy, it doesn’t make much sense to say that the band is breaking up. But Dirty Beaches are no more. Alex Zhang Hungtai, from Montreal, has been making murky, sinister music under that name since about 2005, though he didn’t release his debut album Old Blood until 2011. Hungtai plans to keep making music, and he says he’s got new projects coming next year. Next week, he’ll release the new instrumental collection Stateless, and we already posted the song “Displaced.” But after it’s out, he’s done with the Dirty Beaches alias. Hungtai made the announcement on Twitter, and here’s what he said:
Hi guys thank you all for the support of STATELESS, its sad to say goodbye to DB, but rest assured NEW PROJECTS NEW MUSIC COMING SOON 2015
