Following collaborations with White Denim and the Weeks and a successful CMJ run, Chief Scout (AKA 20-year-old Atlanta multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Trey Rosenkampff) has carved out a space for his brand of garage rock in the contemporary scene. His new recent single “Oh Shit” boasts idiosyncratic, slinky guitar and a rhythm that continually lurches forward then holds back. Rosenkampff’s blistering, raw vocals are the perfect topping for the irreverent vibe that he’s created under the Chief Scout guise. “I hope the flowers that I brought you die,” he growls.
