Calvin Harris Is Upset And Confused About Rihanna Rejecting His Song For Her Imminent Album
Rihanna had one of her biggest hits ever with “We Found Love,” the 2011 song she did with the British dance producer Calvin Harris. Given that Rihanna is working on a mysterious new LP right now, and that Harris’ star has risen considerably since “We Found Love,” it would make a whole lot of sense for them to team up again. It won’t be happening, and Harris is bummed about it. You might even say that he’s in a hopeless place. (Sorry.)
With the R&B singer Tinashe, Harris wrote a new song for Rihanna, but Rihanna rejected it. According to Digital Spy, Harris says, “Tinashe wrote the top line, and I did all the music. I love it. But I don’t think she was into it. So I don’t know what is going to happen to that because it’s really good.” Harris also said that the Rihanna album is “due really soon,” so look out for that.
This follows similar comments he made to the Sun last week. Apparently Rihanna never even got back to him.
“No, I’m not on the Rihanna album,” Harris told the paper. “I did a few things for it but they don’t get back to you, there are a lot of people involved. … It’s okay because I’m working on my stuff and it’s going fine.”
Meanwhile, Harris and Grimes can maybe bond about what it’s like when Rihanna shoots down one of your songs.
