Los Campesinos! – “When Christmas Comes”
Los Campesinos! are a strangely perfect band to write their own Christmas music, yet I don’t think I would have ever figured that out had they not announced a new EP today called A Los Campesinos! Christmas, a six-song set of five original holiday tunes and a cover of Mud’s “Lonely This Christmas.” The first track they’re sharing is opener “When Christmas Comes,” which sounds exactly like you might imagine a Los Campesinos! Christmas song might sound, the band’s usual nervy indie-pop epics infused with strings, sleigh bells, and some magic underlying the angst. As someone currently enjoying the first snowfall of the year here in Columbus, it’s sounding pretty damn good this morning. Listen below.
Here’s the EP’s tracklist:
01 “When Christmas Comes”
02 “A Doe To A Deer”
03 “The Holly & The Ivy”
04 “Kindle A Flame In Her Heart”
05 “The Trains Don’t Run (It’s Christmas Day)”
06 “Lonely This Christmas”
You’ll want to have a look at their latest promo image too:
Lastly, Los Campesinos! also have some UK tour dates (get tickets here), where presumably they’ll play some of these Christmas jams.
