Watch The New Basement Tapes Play Two Songs On Kimmel
The New Basement Tapes — which features Elvis Costello, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, and Mumford & Sons’ Marcus Mumford, among others — is a supergroup that exists entirely to finish up unfinished songs from Bob Dylan and the Band’s Basement Tapes. The group released its own Lost On The River album recently, and they’ve already played their songs on Fallon and Ellen. Last night, they were musical guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where they played the smaller indoor studio. On the show proper, James led them through “Nothing To It.” As an online bonus, they also did “Duncan & Jimmy,” which works as a lovely showcase for the Carolina Chocolate Drops’ Rhiannon Giddens and which stands, right now, as the strongest thing I’ve seen from this band. That lady is a total star. Watch both performances below.
Lost On The River is out now on Harvest/Electromagnetic.
