Watch Jarvis Cocker Cover Celine Dion’s “The Power Of Love” At Vice20
I didn’t attend Vice’s 20th anniversary party last Friday night at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, but by all accounts it was an insane affair with a stacked bill that included Lil Wayne, Andrew WK, Pussy Riot, Stephen Malkmus, and an all-star house band backing many of them up. Jarvis Cocker chose to sing Celine Dion’s “The Power Of Love,” which was co-written and originally recorded in 1984 by Jennifer Rush before Dion released it on her 1993 album, The Colour Of My Love. Andrew WK introduces Cocker to the audience, and then Cocker proclaims, “Twenty years ago, this was one of the biggest songs in the world and I am going to sing it especially to … you.” Watch.
