Brooklyn-based Jim-E Stack released his debut full length Tell Me I Belong earlier this year, which found the musician borrowing equally from his sample-heavy, housey influences and his background as a trained drummer. Now he’s shared “Move For Me,” a sonically murky edit of Kaskade’s and Deadmau5’s track from 2008. The vocals are slowed tremendously to a point of chilling distortion and layered over epic piano that’s drives the track’s strategically untraceable rhythm. “Move For Me” is intensely stripped down and dramatic, exposing the raw emotion in Jim-E Stack’s artistic process as he combines obscure, disfigured vocal samples with more traditional music schemes. In the end, the song is so distinctly Jim-E Stack’s style that it’s hard to believe it came from respective house and trance legends Deadmau5 and Kaskade. Listen to the track below.
