Young London quartet Evans The Death will release their second album Expect Delays this March, and today we share its tremendous lead single. "Don't Laugh At My Angry Face" is a gnarled, twisted version of the sort of anxiously cheery pop song Los Campesinos! are known for. The track lumbers along something like triumphantly, a '90s alt-rock singalong drunk on its own tears. Boy-girl harmonies and organ swells give way to off-kilter guitar leads worthy of Jonny Greenwood, and what begins with a memorable turn of phrase -- "This is my angry face/ Don't laugh at my angry face" -- eventually rises into wordless refrain climbing a jagged staircase into the sky. It's quite a statement, and it portends big things for the rest of the LP. Listen below.
