Lucki Eck$ – “Stevie Wonder” (Feat. Chance The Rapper)
Chicago is a great city with a vibrant and varied rap scene, and it’s cool to see some of the city’s most vital rap voices come together even if they have absolutely nothing in common beyond their hometown. Lucki Eck$, who’s worked with Danny Brown and FKA twigs, landed a Mixtape Of The Week this summer with Body High, on which he muttered tough-guy drug-talk over, among other things, a Björk sample. On his new track “Stevie Wonder,” he teams up with the decidedly sunnier Chance The Rapper, who gets on Eck$’s hard, head-blown level before launching into one of his jazzy choruses. Chance and his live band the Social Experiment co-produced the song alongside Chicago drill-music master Young Chop and past Eck$ collaborator Plu2o Nash. The end result shouldn’t really hang together, but as a piece of hazy and murky rap music, it absolutely works. Listen below.
