The Replacements – “Poke Me In My Cage”
The Replacements have been steadily playing together since Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson’s reunion last year at Riot Fest, and the band has said that a reunion album is “likely” since they’ve been enjoying the experience so much. Enter “Poke Me In My Cage,” a 24-minute improvisational piece that appeared on the band’s Soundcloud a few days ago. It’s unclear what exactly it is and the band hasn’t acknowledged it on any of their social media accounts, but the description says the track was written by Westerberg and Stinson and was recorded at Woolly Mammoth Sound in Waltham, MA on October 28, 2014. The artwork for the track is a porcupine and it’s tagged with the words “#Jazz” and “#PorcupinePiss.” It sounds pretty cool! Listen below.
