NBC Is Making Two Or More Dolly Parton Movies
Dolly Parton has signed a development deal with NBC for a series of stand-alone television movies based on her “songs, stories, and inspiring life,” according to Deadline. How many movies could that be? At least two but maybe … just maybe … three? Or ten?! Who knows! Earlier this year, Parton said in an interview that she was working on a biopic, so it’s possible this is where it ended up, though that feels like something that would be destined for the big screen. “I don’t know anyone in the world who doesn’t love Dolly Parton, and the idea of developing television movies inspired by her incredible life and the stories she has sung about for decades is exciting to all of us at NBC,” network chairman Robert Greenblatt said. Parton previously worked with Greenblatt on the Broadway iteration of 9 To 5, based on the 1980 film that Parton picked up a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for.
