Deerhoof – “Black Pitch” Video
Deerhoof continued their two-decade reign over noise-addled pop on last year’s La Isla Bonita, and now they’ve released a video for one of the record’s fuzzier, more-subdued moments, “Black Pitch.” The band’s firecracker frontwoman Satomi Matsuzak strolls through London’s well-known seaside spots, including Canary Wharf and Battersea, playing further on the album title. What I like best about the clip is her utter lack of pretension — aside from the streak of blue in her side ponytail, there’s no indication that this woman is a decade-spanning creative force. She could be just another woman wandering the shore, and you get the feeling that’s the point. Watch it below.
La Isla Bonita is out now on Polyvinyl.
