We’ve been hearing a lot about Jack White lately — from his ridiculous rider and accompanying guacamole recipe to the limited edition oddities he’s hocking to the Grammy he won last weekend — but it’s been a while since we’ve heard any new music. In November of last year, White released the Lazaretto track “Would You Fight For My Love” as a 7-inch with a B-Side cover of Dean Fertita’s “Parallel.” White’s Third Man Records will do the same thing with “That Black Bat Licorice” — re-releasing the single as a 7-inch and including a Harry Connick, Jr. cover as a B-Side. The song was originally released in 1991, and was the leading track on Connick, Jr.’s album Blue Light. Though the original recording is distinctly jazzy for the early ’90s, White blows it out of the water with a bigger band and all-around enormous sound. It’s worthy of Broadway, seriously.
