The new Decemberists album What A Terrible World, What A Beautiful World starts with an intensely winky meta-song called "The Singer Addresses His Audience." The band just started touring behind the album, and they played the first show of that tour two nights ago in Dublin. Colin Meloy opened the show by playing a solo-acoustic take on that song, with the rest of the band joining him halfway through. It was their first time playing the song ever, and it's an effective piece of stagecraft. Below, you can watch a fan-made video of the performance.
