Lil Wayne And His Daughter Revived MTV’s My Super Sweet 16 Last Night
MTV stopped running new episodes of the endlessly hatewatchable reality series My Super Sweet 16 in 2008, but when Lil Wayne’s daughter wants to throw one of the show’s endlessly lavish birthday bashes, MTV is willing to resurrect it. The show was famous for the sight of spoiled rich kids melting down crying because their families bought them the wrong color cars. But while Wayne’s daughter Reginae Carter sure seems to get everything she wants, I didn’t once see her throwing a tantrum when I was scanning through the episode just now. She seems like — dare I say it — a good kid, albeit a good kid who seems to have way too many things right now. But Wayne has made better rap music than just about anyone else on the planet, and if he wants to spoil his kid, who am I to argue? The episode features quick performances from Nicki Minaj and Rae Sremmurd, and it also shows us Wayne and Birdman, Reginae’s godfather, in happier times. You can watch the whole thing below.
Fun fact: Wayne isn’t the first rapper to play doting parent on My Super Sweet 16; Cee-Lo once did clueless-father duty.
