Tom Cruise appeared on a German talk show where he was asked questions about his separation from Katie Holmes and provides us with our Quote of the Day (And Week) (via Dlisted):

I did not expect that. [I’ve had] an incredible amount of time to reflect. Life is a challenge. To be 50 and have experiences and think you have everything under control, and then it hits you — that’s what life is … Life is tragicomic. You need a certain sense of humor.

Tom Cruise has a point, though. Life IS tragicomic. And it is weird as you get older how there are so many surprises in store for you with such regularity and inevitability that really the only thing you learn from your accumulating experience is how little that experience can possibly prepare you for all the surprises you don’t even know about yet, more and more surprises all the way through until you meet that big surprise in the sky. But also: HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA. Guys. GUYS. Tom Cruise said “Life is tragicomic.” Take a second. Now double it. That’s amazing. TOM! That’s what I want on my tombstone. That’s what I want on EVERYONE’S tombstones. You will be missed.
