Stupid April Fools’ Day. How dare you make me think twice about this completely normal and boring rebranding of a television network with a newish logo and tagline. “Uh-oh, is AMC pranking us?! Tomorrow are they going to go back to their old logo that is basically the same but isn’t gold? Is the new tagline only set up to make me feel foolish once they go back to ‘Story Matters Here’?! HOW WILL I EVER SHOW MY FACE ON THE INTERNET AGAIN!” What a dummy. How dare you make me into a bigger dummy than I usually am, you stupid day. From The Hollywood Reporter:

AMC is giving itself a makeover. The cable network home to Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead is rebranding with a new logo and tagline to reflect its commitment to original storytelling.

Gone is the standard AMC logo and “Story Matters Here” tagline, with both replaced by a gold box and “Something More” motto.

“AMC: Something More further refines our focus on- and off-air and speaks to our promise to viewers to provide an experience that is unexpected, unconventional and uncompromising,” AMC exec vp marketing Linda Schupack said in a statement announcing the rebranding Monday. “However we express the brand, we want to give our audience something deeper, something richer, something more.”

THAT’S KIND OF WHAT SHE SAID! LOL. Hahahaha. To be serious for a second, though: It’s difficult when things we’ve grown to know and love, like the logo coloring and tagline of a television network, go ahead and change on us out of nowhere. It can make the world seem a bit more unstable, and boy oh boy did it already seem fairly unstable! But, as they say, “the only constant in television networks is rebranding.” This is just life. And another thing that is just life is thinking of some other taglines even though they already chose this one, so LET’S GO AND DO IT, YAAAY!
