Every couple of years around this time, some readers seem to get a little bit frustrated with the amount of political content on the site, and I can't say that this year is going to be any different. The general argument seems to go that people (in particular the straw people who make this paraphrased complaint) come here to watch videos of trampoline accidents and laugh at Hugh Jackman's pee-stained crotch, and if they wanted to hear or talk about politics they could go to any number of smarter, more informed websites. That is true! Sort of! But you also have to remember that Videogum is subject to the ebbs and flows of the Internet, and if the country is in the midst of an election, then that's definitely going to seep through. Also who cares, man?! Take a chill pill! I would like to think, too, that another reason that people read Videogum is because this site is engaged with the world around us, and amidst the burps and farts and splats we actually DO at least TRY and take a second to think about what things mean to us and/or other people, and how our interests and/or values and/or goals interact with other interests and/or values and/or goals. I guess the point that I am trying to make is please register to vote, and this November, post your comments AT THE BALLOT BOX.
