James Cameron has been sued multiple times already for allegedly stealing both the terrible plot and the terrible look of his sleeper hit Avatar from different terrible filmmakers, but I think this new lawsuit from a guy who made a thing called "Bats & Butterflies" is finally gonna NAIL 'EM! The author, Elijah Schkeiban, is suing James Cameron over what he claims are similarities to the plot line, themes, and characters portrayed in Avatar. So from what I know of Avatar that means blue people, tails, and computer face? Is that what it is, Elijah? From The Hollywood Reporter:
Elijah Schkeiban says he's the creator and author of "Bats & Butterflies," a franchise of products first created in 1988, based on a novel and WGA-registered script by the same name, about a main character named Joshua who fights with thugs and gets injured. Joshua travels to a planet, Altair, and gets lost in a forest. There, he meets indiginous species and is caught up in a battle between the bats and the butterflies. He's held captive by the butterlies and meets the queen, whose daughter teaches him about their ways. Joshua's bonds grow and he flies on the backs of the butterflies and fights for them.
Well he didn't mention anything about the computer face or what color anybody was, and I'm certainly no judge and jury, and I do understand that the story in Avatar was kind of basic and probably a lot of weirdo writers could claim their stories are similar, and if they could find a lawyer to sue James Cameron about it, heck, why not, even if your story doesn't sound very similar at all you might as well take a stab, but, let's be serious here, THIS COURT IS DISMISSED! HIS CASE IS AIRTIGHT, WHY ARE YOU WASTING MY TIME? I'M A BUSY WOMAN! SEND JAMES CAMERON TO JAIL AND DON'T COME BACK UNTIL YOU HAVE SOMETHING DEBATABLE!
