May we all spend our final moments on this earth making out with some nerd. Are they making a Cloverfield sequel or what? I could really go for a Cloverfield sequel. But if this is as close as we get, then fair enough.

4. Matthew E. White – “Rock & Roll Is Cold” (Dir. Kevin Bennett)

Matthew E. White is a studio dork with a jazz-composition degree who loves arranging strings. This video recasts him as a swaggering mack daddy who wanders across beautiful natural landscapes and then dips in to steal your girl and your truck. And it works! That’s the magic of cinema right there.

3. Sleater-Kinney – “A New Wave” (Dir. whoever makes Bob’s Burgers)

I guess I should start watching Bob’s Burgers, huh? I already like it better than Portlandia.

2. Girl Band – “Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage?” (NSFW) (Dir. Bob Gallagher)

So unwatchably repulsive! And yet so fun! The latex makeup effects are so tangible and gross that I really thought they were maybe using an actual cadaver until halfway through.

If I saw things like this when I did drugs, I would do a lot more drugs. A new addition to the bucket list: Go to Shanghai and stare at that skyline in glazed wonder.
