Sharon Van Etten is on tour promoting her latest offering, Are We There, which made our 50 Best Albums Of 2014 list and is one of my personal favorite records of last year. But New Zealander John Campbell definitely loves Van Etten more than I do. The newscaster was moved to tears when the Brooklyn-based artist made a surprise appearance via satellite across town to perform live for him, after he bemoaned the fact that he would be unable to attend her show in Auckland that night. Having had no idea that his colleagues knew how much he adores Van Etten, Campbell sits, mouth agape, and says, “It was just my secret passion! Holy moly…” Watch here.
