The Vancouver singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr. drops his debut album Goon today, and his big Cinderella story marched on last night. A couple of weeks after Jesso played The Tonight Show with the Roots backing him up, he made his second late-night TV appearance on Conan. This time, he was singing “Without You,” the tender ballad from Goon, and he had a full eight-piece string section backing him up. Danielle Haim, who plays drums on the song, was also up there with him. UPDATE: That’s studio king Ariel Rechtshaid, the song’s producer, on guitar. Jesso’s intense piano face continues to be absolutely nuts, and Conan’s reaction when he realized that Jesso is taller than him was pretty priceless. Watch the performance below.
