Watch A Black-And-White Brandon Flowers Sing “Can’t Deny My Love” On The Tonight Show
Killers frontman Brandon Flowers worked with producer Ariel Rechtshaid on The Desired Effect, his forthcoming solo album, and we posted the delightfully ’80s first single “Can’t Deny My Love” yesterday. Last night, Flowers appeared on The Tonight Show to sing the song, and he started things off in crisp black-and-white, looking for all the world like he was living inside the “Boys Of Summer” video. The Tonight Show cameras snapped back to color soon enough, but this was a bold aesthetic gambit, and it paid off. In any room, Flowers sings like he’s trying to reach the upper decks at the Hollywood Bowl. And his leopard-print-sport-coat-and-T-shirt thing absolutely fit with the whole “mid-’80s fading rock star attempts to go new wave” thing that he’s working right now. This was a seriously slick performance, and you can watch it below.
The Desired Effect is out 5/19 on Island.
