Bleachers – “Dear Prudence” (The Beatles Cover)
Bleachers’ Jack Antonoff must have been feeling especially inspired by The White Album (could you blame him?) because he recorded and shared a rough-and-tumble cover of the Beatles’ “Dear Prudence” from his hotel room in North Carolina. Antonoff breaks the song down into its most essential parts, adds some Autotune in place of the vocal harmonies, and punches everything up a bit. Listen below.
He also posted about The White Album’s “Yer Blues” on Facebook around the same time that he uploaded the cover:
there is nothing more direct and perfect than the lyric “I’m lonely / want to die”. perfect. the pace the drums are at and the angry guitars literally feel like the lyrics themselves. it’s by far the most inventive song with a blue progression of all time. no matter what place I’m emotionally in, this song brings me all the way down. that’s amazing
