LA Font – “Whisperer” (Stereogum Premiere)
Over two full-lengths, LA Font have made a name for themselves by twisting muscular rock songs into catchy pop tunes. With a year-and-a-half separating them from their last release, the Los Angeles band is gearing up for something new. A full-length is due out later this year but, in the meantime, the group is putting out Hangtime Vol. 1, an EP meant to tease the forthcoming album. It contains the ridiculously catchy “Whisperer,” a track with a prickled, confident swagger. “I wasn’t there, I wasn’t there,” vocalist Danny Bobbe earworms with his infectious voice. “I can’t hush the whispers because I wasn’t there.” Later, he admits: “I can’t hush the whisper because I didn’t care.” Listen below.
