MNDR – “Lock & Load” (Feat. Killer Mike)
Nas’ Mass Appeal imprint is quietly assembling an army of a roster with artists who can simply spit their asses off. As the label is steadily expanding its portfolio, its introduction to the video-game world is yet another example of its firepower. Today, the label hits us with “Lock & Load,” the first single from Welcome To Los Santos, the Alchemist and Oh No collab project for Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V featuring Earl Sweatshirt, Freddie Gibbs, Ariel Pink, Wavves, and Little Dragon, to name a few. Lord, is this track aptly named. MNDR slowly delivers piercing gunplay over drums with clothes-shaking knock and slow-winding synth bass. Killer Mike comes through and empties the clip with a sixteen that murders everything — literally and figuratively. I still have my OG Sega Genesis collecting dust in my apartment, but this banger makes me want to cop GTA V and a new console and merk everything in sight. Listen.
Welcome to Los Santos is out 4/21 via Mass Appeal. Preorder is available on iTunes.
