Prince Rama – “XO” (Stereogum Premiere)
Prince Rama’s junkyard pop toes the line of ironic camp, woozy psychedelics, and sci-fi obsessive with surprising grace. The last we really heard from Brooklyn sisters Taraka and Nimai Larson was back in 2012 when they released Top 10 Hits Of The End Of The World, but today we’re premiering a special one-off track that is only available during their current tour with Dan Deacon. Remember what I said about ironic camp? Look no farther than the cover art for “XO,” along with the fact that the song is released via “a download card that comes with an energy shot elixir!” (Punctuation not mine). Still, it’s hard not to get caught up in the dance-floor headiness and howling vocals. Listen below.
