The National Announce A Lot Of Sorrow Box Set
Remember when the National played the High Violet track “Sorrow” for six hours straight at MoMA PS1? Well, in case you forgot about that moment of collaboration with Icelandic artist Ragnar Kjartansson, the band is now releasing a box set to commemorate the performance.
Kjartansson is well-known for using “repetitive performance” to “explore collective experience and emotion” — so it was his idea for the band to perform the 3:25 song for six hours. The vinyl box set being released of the performance is limited to 1,500 and includes nine clear vinyl records in clear sleeves packaged in a translucent, screen printed box.
Here’s what the set looks like:
It will cost $150 but the proceeds go directly to Partners in Health, an organization dedicated to helping those in poverty access the appropriate healthcare.
A Lot Of Sorrow will be out 6/22 via 4AD. Pre-order it here.
