Stream Young Thug Barter 6
After a whole lot of anticipation, and a not-small amount of controversy over the album title, Young Thug’s Barter 6 is finally out in the world. As it turns out, the mysterious project is an album and not a mixtape, and rap Twitter had a collective heart attack this morning when someone figured out that it went up on sale on the New Zealand version of iTunes early thanks to time-zone differences. On early listens, the album is exactly what you’d hope for from the first official Young Thug solo project since Thug’s career took off — that is, if you’re the type of listener who’s hoping for anything from this project. It’s a way-out, astral take on Atlanta strip-club rap, and it’s got Thug doing some strange and impressive things with his voice over beats that sound like laptops drowning. Birdman, T.I., Lil Boosie, and Young Dolph make appearances. We’ve posted the early tracks “Check” and “Halftime.” And right now, you can stream the whole thing below.
Barter 6 is out tomorrow on Atlantic.
