Watch A New Trailer For Dope, A$AP Rocky’s Feature Film Debut
We saw a brief trailer for Dope, A$AP Rocky’s feature film debut, when it premiered at Sundance. Now a much longer, more detailed trailer has emerged, and it makes the movie look pretty awesome. The story revolves around Malcolm (Shameik Moore), a straight-A student from Inglewood, California who plays in a punk band and loves ’90s hip-hop. After getting invited to an underground party, Malcolm ends up in possession of a backpack filled with drugs belonging to a dealer (Rocky) and tries to sell them to white people at music festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza in order to pay for college. Rick Famuyiwa wrote and directed the film, and some very famous people supported him including Forest Whitaker (Producer), Pharrell (Executive Producer), and Diddy (Co-Executive Producer). Pharrell also contributed four new songs. Watch the trailer below; it features Kendrick Lamar’s “i,” which I imagine will be used in movie trailers for a long time.
Dope is in theaters 6/19.
