No Joy – “Moon In My Mouth”
Montreal shoegazers No Joy have fleshed out quite a bit as a band since Jasamine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd founded the doom-dreamy duo. On their third full-length More Faithful, they’re joined by drummer Garland Hastings and bassist Michael Farsky (formerly of Dirty Beaches’ live band). In an interview about one of the new songs off the record, “Moon In My Mouth,” White-Gluz said that she worked on this song with Farsky, and their goal was to make uncomfortable pop songs. Given the song is in 11/4, the mathy, unusual time signature creates a vague sense of unease that layers of guitar reverb and breathy vocals work to subvert. Listen below and check out their other new song “Everything New.”
More Faithful is out 6/9 via Mexican Summer/Arts & Crafts.
