And I know it’s not at all what you’re saying, but I’m going to piggyback and expand on that “The internet is horrible” statement and just note that I think we need to start really finding that unacceptable.

So often everyone just kind of shrugs and says “It’s the internet! What did you expect?” and in some ways, I often find that behavior even worse. It’s indifferent and enabling. It sucks that it has to happen, but it’s also awesome that she’s calling these people out. They should be called out. It’s not squandering freedom of speech–often the go-to rebuttal for this sort of thing–to let people know they’re disgusting monsters (of the non-Videogum variety, most of whom were and are very nice).
