Glenn Beck Gives Andrew W.K. A Show On His Radio Network
Andrew W.K. has already translated his musical message of party-positivity to print via his Village Voice advice column, to TV with his Cartoon Network game show Destroy Build Destroy, and to the internet with his children’s show Meet Me At The Reck. Now W.K. is tackling another medium. Starting this Saturday 5/2, he’ll host America W.K., a two-hour weekend radio show on Glenn Beck’s TheBlaze Radio Network. Explains a press release, “Andrew will host a raw and penetrating discussion of what it is to be alive — meaning, motivation, mindset, and making dreams come true, all included in a celebration of life itself — and all with a positive and honest outlook. Andrew will also field questions and input from the audience, adding an engaging interactive component.”
For those who’ve been following W.K.’s career in recent years, a partnership with conservative kingpin Beck is not that surprising. W.K. is a regular guest on Fox News, the network where Beck used to work, and both guys maintain a fervent cult following. Here’s W.K.’s statement about the endeavor, which seems to have been Beck’s idea:
When Glenn asked me to do my own radio show on TheBlaze, I was shocked but excited, as I knew he would allow me the unrestrained freedom to say exactly what I wanted. I’m very dedicated to exploring and learning from different people in different places, and always with an open heart. If people never went outside their own box, life would be boring. After all, why would I only want to talk with people who already think exactly like me?
And here’s what Beck had to say:
My relationship with Andrew W.K. is a perfect example of how two people can come together on what unites us, and become strange bedfellows. He is open minded, honest, loves his fellow man even though he may disagree with him, and is a natural entertainer. Our mutual audiences have already begun to find commonalities. I think he is the perfect fit for TheBlaze Radio Network.
